Who am I?
I aways wanted to write a book. I had the desire but not the confidence or the courage to take the leap. I thought about this for nearly three decades. As I found myself approaching my 50’s I knew it was time to figure it out. It was now or never.
I didn’t have any faith in my drawing abilities, making it doubtful I would be able to succeed in writing a children’s book. But I could craft with the best of them and there was nothing wrong with my imagination.
My first two books, Castles and The Adventurous Tractor, were pictures of paper shapes and puff paint fish. Many versions later, the characters were made from clay, and the backgrounds were pictures of rocks and minerals. Learning PhotoShop involved some screaming and hair pulling (my own), but I figured it out.
It took about ten years to get from my written stories to my published books.
The first book I published, Rock Collecting Robots from Outer Space, came out in January of 2023. By the fall of that year, The Astronaut Octopus, A Castle Built Beneath the Sea, and A Tractor Who Goes Adventuring, had all been published. It took almost another year before Robots from Outer Space Learn About… DINOSAURS! was released and I was off and running.
My “Good Night” books introduce real science in make-believe worlds. They are written for toddlers, beginning readers, and those who read with them.
My newest book, "Rocks & Minerals… An Introduction to the Science & Hobby for Ages 10 - 110," is an Easy to Read, Easy to Learn book about the science and hobby of rock collecting. You will find easy to understand facts and suggestions, along with more than 200 images of minerals, rocks, fossils, meteorites, and more.
My passion is to create fun and easy-to-read books about science for people of all ages. Science doesn’t have to be difficult.
Stay tuned for rock and mineral books for any age, more robots from outer space who come to learn about science, and more adventures from Grimly, the tractor, and Clyde, the astronaut octopus.
